The Consumer Team radio program is airing a series of special broadcasts focusing on the best smart phones and cell phone plans. According to Pete Thomson, host of The Consumer Team, the information is very timely. Thomson commented, “Research is showing that consumers are needing clarity regarding smart phone hardware as well and the wireless phone plans. Regarding phones, consumers need to better understand the new smart phones featuring the iPhone, Droid and Windows platforms. And when it comes to getting the best wireless plan, the marketplace is not well informed. A high percentage of the marketplace is overpaying for cell phone hardware and services. Our listeners will learn specific ways to save money across the board.”
Mike Gikus, Senior Editor-Electronics with Consumer Reports Magazine, will be a special guest on the Consumer Team for the smart phone segments. Gikus is a nationally recognized expert on consumer electronics and the cell phone industry. According to Pete Thomson, “Mike Gikus and the team at Consumer Reports Magazine have pulled together an extraordinary collection of information pertaining to everything consumers need to know about cell phones.”
In addition to naming Consumer Report’s top picks for smart phones, Thomson said The Consumer Team special segments will help consumers learn how to get the most for their cellular investment. Thomson added, “In 2012 Americans spent an average of $1,200 per person on cell phones and airtime. Heavy users can easily spend twice that amount. On The Consumer Team we’ll be showing our listeners how to actually decrease their cell phone bills through smarter shopping. Consumers who shop smart can pay less for smart phones and for airtime. This is now possible largely because of new players coming into most markets.”
