The months of July and August normally usher in the summer’s hottest weather. On Saturday, June 23rd at 2PM Central, The Consumer Team radio talk show will do a special broadcast regarding staying safe during the dog days of summer.
A featured guest on The Consumer Team will be Dr. Todd Thacker of Primacare in Lewisville, Texas. According to Consumer Team host Pete Thomson, Dr. Thacker is an expert on heat related health issues. Thomson stated, “Because he works in an urgent care facility, Dr. Todd Thacker sees heat related issues every day. He has a wide range of experience that makes him a most informative and credible authority on heat illness.” According to Thomson, heat related illness impacts people of all ages. “Heat exhaustion and heat stroke can hit anyone young or old. During our Consumer Team special on staying safe in the heat, we’ll talk about the misconceptions of heat illness as well as how to deal with a heat related emergency situation.”
During this special Consumer Team broadcast Dr. Thacker will address growing concerns about the safety of high school football 2-a-day practices. Thomson added, “There are some health professionals that believe 2-a-day practices should be banned while others say the conditioning actually helps athletes get used to the heat. During The Consumer Team broadcast, we’ll give a thorough report on the latest research findings.”
