During the broadcast event, Eric Thomason talked about why education is important to home and business owners that need to replace or repair a roof in the North Texas area.   Pete Thomson commenting on the broadcast said, “Education has always been at the heart of Blue Nail Roofing and their approach to helping consumers.   That’s one of the reasons that Eric is such a valuable guest and resource on our program.”

Thomason and Thomson also discussed the importance of certifications and enhanced warranties in the roofing business.  Thomson added, “One of the biggest mistakes consumers make is not insisting on using a certified roofing company.  Blue Nail Roofing is certified by GAF and Owens Corning.   Both of these major roofing materials manufacturers have vetted Blue Nail Roofing and given them their certification and the ability to offer consumers enhanced warranties.   Enhanced warranties give homeowners a much greater level of protection.”

Consumer Team Interviews Top DFW Remodeling Expert

(DALLAS-FT. WORTH, TEXAS — Consumer Team News)  Elite Remodeling was recently recognized by The Consumer Team as the top remodeling company in DFW.   Elite’s owner John Todd has been joining Consumer Team host Pete Thomson for a series of broadcasts on 1080 KRLD.    In their most recent interview, Todd talked about trends in remodeling in DFW.

Elite Remodeling’s John Todd – Consumer Team Certified

Todd commented on what he called the move to a “transitional” look for home remodeling.  Consumer Team host Pete Thomson commented, “John Todd has a very accurate view of what’s going on in remodeling in North Texas.  He described the transitional movement away from dark woods and heavy textures to the more clean lines of contemporary style.”

Thomson said that John Todd’s presence on Consumer Team is strategic and meant to be a educational tool for his KRLD listeners. He added, “Finding John Todd and Elite Remodeling was the result of an extensive search on Consumer Team.   There are many remodeling companies in Dallas and Ft. Worth but few can match Elite Remodeling for their skill set and remodeling process.  When you’re knocking down walls and making big changes to your home, you want a company that knows what they’re doing.  That company for DFW consumers is Elite Remodeling.”

Thomson recommends that homeowners interested in remodeling engage John Todd and the Elite team in a discussion.  He commented, “Just talking to John will be educational.   And he’s very up front and candid with everyone he works with.  If his company is not a good match for a remodeling job, he’ll tell you.   But if the project is in his wheelhouse, you won’t a better remodeling team than Elite Remodeling.”

For more information on Elite Remodeling, call 972-334-9803.  The Consumer Team with Pete Thomson is broadcast Saturdays from 6-8 PM on 1080 KRLD Radio in Dallas-Ft. Worth.   The Consumer Team is produced by McQ Media Inc.

Blue Nail Roofing Tops DFW Roofer Certifications

(DALLAS-FT. WORTH, TX — Consumer Team News)   Blue Nail Roofing, a Dallas-Ft. Worth roofing company, continues to receive top ratings, reviews and certifications from the largest roofing suppliers in the nation.  Pete Thomson, consumer advocate and host of The Consumer Team on 1080 KRLD, recently detailed Blue Nail’s achievements in a recent radio program.

Eric Thomason of Blue Nail Roofing on The Consumer Team

Thomson, whose program is heard Saturday’s from 6-8 PM on KRLD, called Blue Nail the best in North Texas.  He said, “Blue Nail is in the top 2% of roofers nationwide as a result of their certifications from Owens-Corning and GAF.   These companies thoroughly vetted Blue Nail before awarding this level of certification.   Because of these certifications, Blue Nail Roofing can offer North Texas customers the best warranties which are far superior to warranties available from non-certified roofing firms.”

Blue Nail Roofing installed a new roof on Pete Thomson’s home this year. Thomson called Blue Nail’s work flawless.  He added, “I was very pleased, but not surprised at all.  Eric Thomason and his staff are experienced and very detail oriented.   Everything about my roofing job, was expertly handled.”  Thomson further identified two areas where Blue Nail’s performance did surprise him.  He said, “First, Blue Nail was able to get even more coverage from my insurance company.   During the initial inspection done by the insurance adjuster, some damage was missed.  Blue Nail’s team found the damage and got it covered by the insurance company.   That was impressive.  And, I was blown away by how neat the job site was upon completion.  Other than my new roof, which was incredible, there was no evidence that Blue Nail was at my home.  No mess, no nails, just a very clean home site.”

Eric Thomason, Blue Nail Roofing’s owner, is a regular contributor to The Consumer Team on KRLD. Thomson called Thomason an anchor to his program.  He said, “Eric and Blue Nail Roofing have been our exclusive choice for roofing companies since we started our program.   They are a cornerstone to our program in Dallas-Ft. Worth.  And Eric brings great perspective on home repair to airwaves of KRLD.”

The Consumer Team with Pete Thomson is heard Saturdays from 6-8 PM on 1080 KRLD Radio in Dallas-Ft. Worth.  The Consumer Team is produced by McQ Media, Dallas, Texas.

With a monthly subscription, a business traveler can enjoy private air travel but for a fraction of the cost of owning or leasing a plane.”

Kennedy will serve as region President the new combination of Rise and Surf Air.  Thomson added, “In our KRLD interview Nick goes into the exciting details of what the combination of Rise and Surf Air will mean. Without stealing a bit of Nick’s thunder from our interviews, I can tell you that the combination of these two exceptional companies will be very good news for business travelers.”

The Consumer Team’s mission, according to Thomson, is to educate and connect consumers.   Thomson added, “Consumer Team is here to first educate our listeners regarding consumer issues.  Every week we talk about good deals, bad deals, recalls and rip-offs that consumers need to know about.   We also connect consumers to the best businesses that have a commitment to high levels of quality, customer service and integrity.    Thomson is quick to distinguish The Consumer Team from referral sites such as Angie’s List or Home Advisor.    He said, “In our view these big national services are the new yellow pages.   On Consumer Team we endorse a much smaller list of businesses that we know very well.  The result is a better experience for the consumer.”

Pete Thomson has been working in consumer advocacy since 2000.   The Consumer Team launched in 2011 on 1080 KRLD in Dallas/Ft. Worth.   Each week’s program features consumer news and interviews with leading consumer advocates, including journalists from Consumer Reports and Consumer’s Union.   Thomson added, “Consumer Reports and Consumer’s Union are the gold standard for consumer information.   We’ve been pleased that they make themselves available for interviews on our program.   We are huge fans.”

Floors 4 Less – Cutting Out “The Middleman”

Floors 4 Less will not be beat on price, period.  That’s what owner Sharif Asad said in a recent Consumer Team interview.   He went on to describe his family’s business philosophy of keeping their business structure lean-and-mean in order to deliver the lowest price to the consumer.   The math is pretty simple.  Since Floors 4 Less don’t employ salespeople, this can mean a significant savings to consumers.   In retail flooring, commissions paid to salespeople can be as high as 30-40% of the purchase price.

Quality & Safety

Although price is an important part of the flooring purchase, Thomson says it’s secondary to flooring product quality and safety.   Thomson said, “Recent investigations into larger flooring suppliers and retailers selling tainted and unsafe products have really put this on our radar.  Floors 4 Less has very stringent policies regarding product safety and quality.  They only sell products from reliable suppliers that are confirmed to be safe.”

And They Come To You!

floors 4 Less logoFloors 4 Less is changing ‘best practices’ in the flooring industry by offering “in-home” services for consumers.  Thomson added, “Floors 4 Less is taking all the stress out of buying flooring by giving the absolute best customer service.  Instead of having to hassle with going to the store and leaving a deposit for samples, they’ll come to you.   Floors 4 Less will bring the samples to you and give you an opportunity to see how the flooring will look in your home.”

“Do It Yourself” Tax Resolution? Consumer Team Interviews Attorney Nick Nemeth

(DALLAS-FT. WORTH, TEXAS — Consumer Team News)     Savvy consumers have learned to save money through DIY.    YouTube, specifically, has brought rise to a nation of do-it-yourselfers who learn from video and then tackle a project on their own.   There are some arenas where being a DIYer can end badly.  When it comes to dealing with an IRS tax issue, a DIY strategy can sometimes be dangerous.   Nick Nemeth, DFW attorney, will join Pete Thomson on The Consumer Team to discuss when a DIY strategy can work for consumers.    The interview will be broadcast on 1080 KRLD Radio in Dallas-Ft. Worth.

Pete Thomson, host of The Consumer Team, said that Nemeth supports a ‘Do It Yourself’ strategy, in some cases.   Thomson added, “In our interview, Nick talks about several situations where a consumer can ‘do it yourself’.    But, as you can imagine, knowing when it’s appropriate to go DIY is critical.”    Helping consumers determine their options, according to Thomson, is one of Nick Nemeth’s most valuable consumer services.    He added, “Nick is very open and transparent with consumers dealing with an IRS tax issue.   And because he offers a free initial consultation to consumers, people can learn what their options are without spending any money.”

The Consumer Team is airing a radio series on tax resolution services to address what Thomson calls consumer abuse in the category.   Thomson said, “A number of the big firms in tax resolution are not consumer friendly.   They’re generally national advertisers that have very aggressive commercials making big promises to the consumer.    Their trick is to get a consumer to agree to a large retainer and a monthly fee and then drag out the process as long as possible.   By the time the consumer figures out that the firm is not doing anything, they’ve spent a ton of money. ”    Thomson applauded Nick Nemeth’s model of customer service.   Thomson added, “Nick is a true consumer advocate.   Beyond the free initial consultation, Nick is very respected in the area of IRS issues.  He is known and respected by the IRS.  In fact, his office is within walking distance of their north Dallas office.”

The Consumer Team with Pete Thomson is broadcast Saturdays from 6 to 8 PM on 1080 KRLD Radio in Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas.   The Consumer Team is produced by McQ Media Inc, Dallas.
