The Consumer Team’s mission, according to Thomson, is to educate and connect consumers.   Thomson added, “Consumer Team is here to first educate our listeners regarding consumer issues.  Every week we talk about good deals, bad deals, recalls and rip-offs that consumers need to know about.   We also connect consumers to the best businesses that have a commitment to high levels of quality, customer service and integrity.    Thomson is quick to distinguish The Consumer Team from referral sites such as Angie’s List or Home Advisor.    He said, “In our view these big national services are the new yellow pages.   On Consumer Team we endorse a much smaller list of businesses that we know very well.  The result is a better experience for the consumer.”

Pete Thomson has been working in consumer advocacy since 2000.   The Consumer Team launched in 2011 on 1080 KRLD in Dallas/Ft. Worth.   Each week’s program features consumer news and interviews with leading consumer advocates, including journalists from Consumer Reports and Consumer’s Union.   Thomson added, “Consumer Reports and Consumer’s Union are the gold standard for consumer information.   We’ve been pleased that they make themselves available for interviews on our program.   We are huge fans.”

Thomson said that The Consumer Team will adhere to the same criteria for selecting sponsors as the new KTRH programs debuts.   He said, “We’re committed to working only with the best-of-the-best on The Consumer Team.   We will continue to vet all of our sponsors to ensure that our listeners are served by the very best.   We will also work exclusively with one business per category.   Maintaining quality is a priority for us.”

Floors 4 Less: Consumer Team Certified as Best in DFW

(DALLAS-FT. WORTH, TEXAS – Consumer Team Newswire)   The Consumer Team announced today that Floors 4 Less, a Dallas-Ft. Worth flooring company, has joined the program as a sponsor.    Pete Thomson, host of The Consumer Team, said the addition of Floors 4 Less will bring valuable information to the program regarding how to successfully buy home flooring products.   Sharif Asad, owner of Floors 4 Less, will join Thomson for a series of educational segments on The Consumer Team, which airs Saturdays from 6 to 8 PM on 1080 KRLD in Dallas-Ft. Worth.   Thomson commented on the addition of Floors 4 Less.  He said, “Consumers have a number of challenges when buying floor covering.   We believe that Floors 4 Less and their business model give the consumer the best combination of high quality products, low price and outstanding customer service.

Floors 4 Less will not be beat on price, period.  That’s what owner Sharif Asad said in a recent Consumer Team interview.   He went on to describe his family’s business philosophy of keeping their business structure lean-and-mean in order to deliver the lowest price to the consumer.   The math is pretty simple.  Since Floors 4 Less don’t employ salespeople, this can mean a significant savings to consumers.   In retail flooring, commissions paid to salespeople can be as high as 30-40% of the purchase price.

Quality & Safety

Although price is an important part of the flooring purchase, Thomson says it’s secondary to flooring product quality and safety.   Thomson said, “Recent investigations into larger flooring suppliers and retailers selling tainted and unsafe products have really put this on our radar.  Floors 4 Less has very stringent policies regarding product safety and quality.  They only sell products from reliable suppliers that are confirmed to be safe.”

And They Come To You!

floors 4 Less logoFloors 4 Less is changing ‘best practices’ in the flooring industry by offering “in-home” services for consumers.  Thomson added, “Floors 4 Less is taking all the stress out of buying flooring by giving the absolute best customer service.  Instead of having to hassle with going to the store and leaving a deposit for samples, they’ll come to you.   Floors 4 Less will bring the samples to you and give you an opportunity to see how the flooring will look in your home.”

Big Announcement Coming on KRLD

Sharif Assad will join Pete Thomson on The Consumer Team, 6-8 PM Saturday on 1080 KRLD.  Thomson urged DFW listeners to tune in for a major announcement.   He added, “Sharif will be announcing a major discount on a certain type of hardwood that will be pretty exciting.   He’ll be talking about a price that’s not available anywhere in North Texas.”
