(Dallas-Ft. Worth, TX)     Every night millions of Americans wake up gasping for breath.  Sleep Apnea. We’ve all heard about the symptoms…snoring, gasping for air, lack of sleep.  We’ve also heard that Sleep Apnea can be a killer.   Saturday, October 25, The Consumer Team will welcome Dr. Kent Smith from Sleep Dallas to talk about new developments for the treatment of Sleep Apnea.   Pete Thomson, host of The Consumer Team, called Dr. Smith’s appearance timely and a result of listener demand.  Thomson said, “Sleep Apnea is very concerning.   Every day, people struggle with the symptoms and it can kill.  Dr. Smith is an expert in the field of sleep and we look forward to having him on The Consumer Team.”

According to Thomson, Sleep Apnea often goes untreated because people don’t understand all the treatment options.   He added, “The CPAP machine is a pretty well known treatment option for Sleep Apnea.   However, it’s no secret that it’s not an easy treatment method.   Many consumers have difficulty  using the machine.  Dr. Smith will be talking about options for treatment that are easier for patients.  Because the new treatments have the potential to save lives, we feel that it’s important to discuss on the air.”

Thomson cited both Dr. Smith’s credentials and innovative approach.  He added, “Dr. Smith is a leading lecturer on sleep disorders.  He’s also been instrumental in bringing new technology to his patients.  In addition to the new methods of treating Sleep Apnea, we’ll discuss new developments in sleep study science that no longer require a mandatory overnight session in a sleep clinic.   We see this new technology and intelligence as positive because it’s removing barriers that previously would serve as a roadblock to people getting treatment for sleep disorders.”

The Consumer Team with Pete Thomson is broadcast Saturdays from 5-7 PM on 1080 KRLD Radio.  To listen live, click here.   The Consumer Team is produced by McQ Media, Dallas, Texas.
